PollyTap · Draft updated October 1, 2026

Development draft. PollyTap is still being tested and has no public App Store listing. This page describes the current screenshot-translation design and the advertising proposed for a free release. We will check the finished app, its ad SDKs, and its consent choices before using this as the public policy.

1. At a glance

PollyTap reads an image you choose or send through an Apple Shortcut, recognizes its text with Apple Vision, and translates it with Apple's Translation framework. The screenshot, recognized text, and translation are processed on your iPhone. AGM Apps does not receive their contents through the app.

There is no account or cloud history in the current prototype. Advertising is being tested; test ads can still involve network requests and technical data, as explained below.

2. Images and text you provide

You decide when to run the screenshot Shortcut or choose an image from Photos or Files. The app cannot watch another app's screen continuously, and it does not take a screenshot in the background by itself. A Shortcut you run takes the screenshot and passes it to PollyTap.

To show a translated image and a readable text view, the app uses the image, the text Apple Vision recognizes, the detected or selected languages, and the translated text. These results remain available in the open app so you can review or retry them. The current prototype does not create a searchable scan history or automatically add translated images to Photos.

Images selected from Photos or Files stay in their original location. A Shortcut, a Files export, or a copy you make may keep a separate copy outside PollyTap; those copies are controlled by the relevant app or iOS.

3. Information kept on your device

The app saves your source-language, target-language, and app-menu language choices in iPhone app preferences. It also places the optional ready-made Shortcut files in its app documents so you can import them. The current scan and its translated result are held by the app for display and retry, not sent to an AGM Apps account.

Tap Clear to remove the current scan from the app's view and memory. Deleting PollyTap removes its app data under iOS rules. That does not delete an original photo, a copy in Files or Shortcuts, text you copied to the system clipboard, or data retained in an iPhone backup.

4. Apple services and language downloads

Text recognition and translation use Apple's on-device frameworks. If a language pair needs a model, iOS may connect to Apple to download it, with your confirmation where iOS requires it. Once the needed languages are installed, translation can work without an internet connection. Language availability and results depend on Apple's software and your device.

The app does not provide Siri access to a screenshot or use an AGM Apps translation server. Apple says its Translation framework may collect API usage and performance metrics, including the app identifier and the languages translated, but not the original or translated content. Apple's handling of its services is explained in Apple's Privacy Policy and its Translation framework documentation.

5. Test ads and the proposed free release

No production ad IDs are configured for this development app. Test ad placements may contact an advertising provider even though the creative is marked as a test. If Google Mobile Ads is loaded, its SDK may receive an IP address, device or app identifiers where permitted, ad impressions and interactions, crash information, and performance data. We do not intentionally pass the screenshot, recognized words, or translated words to an ad SDK for targeting.

The proposed free release would use Google AdMob with Unity Ads, ironSource, and Liftoff as mediated ad sources, with AdMob as a fallback. Those production connections are not described here as active. Before release, we will update this section to match the actual SDKs, data disclosures, and consent controls in the shipping build. See Google's Mobile Ads data disclosure for the SDK's published categories.

If a future version requests permission to track across other companies' apps or websites, it will use Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt where required. Declining that permission will not stop screenshot translation.

6. When information leaves the app

Opening this policy or the Terms in a browser is a visit to agmapps.net. The separate website privacy policy covers that visit.

7. Retention, deletion, and choices

You can clear the current result in the app, change saved language choices in Settings, remove imported Shortcuts in Apple's Shortcuts app, or delete the app. To remove a photo or export, delete it where you saved it. Translation packs are managed by iOS, not by AGM Apps.

We keep support emails as long as needed to answer the request and maintain a reasonable record of the exchange. Contact us to request deletion of a support message or ask about your data. For ad data held by an advertising provider, that provider's privacy process also applies.

8. Security and children

Processing screenshots on the iPhone limits their exposure to an AGM Apps server, but no device or network can be guaranteed completely secure. Consider what personal information is visible before you capture or share a screen.

PollyTap is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly request a child's personal information through the app. Contact us if you believe a child has sent personal information to our support address.

9. Changes and contact

We will revise this draft as the app and advertising setup change. A public policy will show its effective and last-updated dates. If you have a privacy question, need this page in another format, or want to make a privacy request, email us:
